Southern Bound

Happy Mothers Day. As with most things in my life this is a little late. (What is the road to Hell paved with?...Good Intentions---better watch it or I may be on my way.)

Scott arranged things so we could just take off & surprise our mommy's; we drove straight down---minus a few stops---AKA. PUKE STOPS!! ok. here's the scoop:

On our way down both the kids puked in the Durango. First, Berkeley choked on a piece of popcorn and PUKE #1. Then her big, but not very tough brother saw that and sure enough-- Puke #2. Photo of the 2 of them in car seats was taken after we had pulled off, changed both kids, wiped down the car seats, and loaded them back in.

About 2hrs later, Tagg puked again #3, we pulled over again changed clothes, wiped down the seats, took a little break
which gave me a chance to snap this great shot of Scott and Tagg by a fence. (notice the change of striped tees Tagg is wearing.) So we stopped in Calgary. Loaded up with some Febreeze, a few groceries and kept on our way. Couldn't believe what a day.

About 2 hrs later, almost to Lethbridge Tagg did the unthinkable--AGAIN #4, couldn't believe it. Scott said he'll never complain again about the amount of clothes I pack for the kiddies. But we got to Raymond--waited patiently with the lights off for Tim and Linda to get home. We decided to have a family campout in the living room just so we wouldn't miss them. They were so surprised! In fact they almost ran into our Durango we had hiding in their spot in the garage. What fun!

Sunday we went over to Jim & Helen's for a Surprise Hello & Sunday Dinner (thanks mom for the invitation??!!) So good to be home. See people we love and miss. Great for my kids. Tagg has been all over the horses, want to not only pet them but climb up the fence and crawl over them. That child has no fear. Yesterday we went to Grandpa Jims and ran through the sprinkler. Mainly just enjoyed the warm weather 32C. So wonderful.

Now we are planning a little birthday party for Berkeley. 1 YEAR OLD tomorrow. Wow time has really flown by. Already she is a little person with a fun personality and likes/dislikes. She loves her brother-- can't wait to play with him everyday, unfortunetly after only minutes together, plus a few bumps & thumps later she is anxiously awaiting rescue from daddy or mommy. Such a precious little girl. She loves to hide under grandma Lindas little table--seems like that is the fave spot for all the grandkids. Linda has photos of each of them playing under there.

It is a short trip south. Seems like there is never enough time to see everyone, express love and appreciation to people we so admire and miss while we are away. I find life simple here, not saying it is easy, but really simple. slow paced. sweet. Where the kids run around playing; everyone knows your name, your family; Lots of support surrounds you... all things I miss being up North. I don't think we will ever live down here, I don't even know if living here is as idealistic as I feel it is. But there is something about this small town that draws people to it, even when you have been away for years and years - we all call it home.
